What
is Chillifix and can it help me?
Chillifix
is a chip for the Hitachi DVD drives which help recover
the drive from bad flashing when users have flashed
there drives incorrectly when trying to flash Xtreme,
GaryOPA or other alternative firmwares.
What
is a bricked drive?
The
term bricked means the drive has no activity, this is
often cause by bad flashing or by the PC freezing half
way through flashing. Why the drive bricks this way
is that there is a drive recovery mode which the drive
jumps into when something is wrong with the checksum
of the drive.
Can
it fix all bricked drives?
No
it can only fix drives bricked from bad flashing, it
can not fix a drive from the so called 'Cross wire'
or by people flashing there drive with the 'wrong firmware'
or a corrupt flash.
Why
can't the drive fix a bricked drive from a cross wire
trick?
This
is because, the cross wire trick is an amateur trick
which can easily and most likely blow the controller
chip on the board. You can still extract the Key from
the drive in most cases, but will need to buy a new
DVD drive and insert the old key.
Is
the chillifix easy to install?
It
is really only for experienced installation people.
You can damage the tracks if you apply too much heat
or bridge the connections if you are not careful with
the install.
Is
there an installation guide and diagrams for the chillifix?
Yes
the Installation guide and also diagrams can be found
BELOW.
