Some notes
before you continue reading : - Pro side of the PogoPins is that the
risk to fuck up your xbox is pretty low and that you don't have to solder anywhere.
Downsides ... aligning the pogo-pins can be irritating , after installation you
shouldn't shake/move your xbox too often and the addon costs another $29 extra. -
You do need a X-ecuter2.0/2.1/2.2 Lite/Pro (or compatible Cheapmod) , the X-ecuter
PogoPin addon is just that ... an addon , it's no standalone modchip. (might sound
obvious , but some people asked me that ... so I better make sure you understand). -
This tutorial includes full installation instructions of X-ecuter2.0 Lite, X-ecuter2.1
Lite , X-ecuter 2.2 Lite, X-ecuter2.0 Pro, X-ecuter2.1 Pro and X-ecuter2.2 Pro. -
The Tutorial is for both Xbox v1.0 & Xbox v1.1. The
v2.0 pogo-pin adaptor will NOT work on v1.2/v1.3 xbox.(check what version
you have). A new adaptor for v1.2/v1.3 consoles is expected soon. - The
instructions on grey background are specific for one type of X-ecuter2.x - read
on top for which modchip it is.
01/ What's included in the PogoPin Package The
PogoPin (circuit)board , the Small Wire adaptor , the star shaped spacer , and
the special screw.

For ::
X-ecuter2.0 Lite/ Configure jumpers. 1: Modchip is flash-protected if jumper
is on modchip 2: Modchip is enabled if jumper is on modchip. 3: Bios switch:
If you still have an old X-ecuter2 Lite with an X-ecuter2 bios , remove jumper
for xbox v1.1 , leave it for xbox v1.0. If you have a new X-ecuter2 Lite with
a xbox-linux cromwell bios , it doesn't matter , so just leave the jumper.
| |
For :: X-ecuter2.0 Pro/ Configure jumpers.
| | |
04/ Check back of PogoPins Leave the white protection
paper at the back of your PogoPins , they are placed there to make sure the points
underneat won't make contact with the xbox motherboard.
| |
05/ |
For :: X-ecuter 2.0 Lite, 2.1 Lite and 2.2 Lite/ Connect
the Small Wire Adaptor
| |
For :: X-ecuter2.0 Pro/ Connect the Small Wire Adaptor
& FCC Ribbon cable.
Connect the FCC Ribbon cable very slowly so you don't destroy
the cable, put the blue side of the cable on top. The easiest way is to first
put 1 side (left/right) of cable , then the other side.
Put FCC Ribon wire through case (you can pass it just above
the video output).

Connect the FCC ribon cable with the external adaptor. Now
Paste the external adaptor against your case.
| |
For :: X-ecuter2.1 Pro and 2.2 Pro/ Connect the Wire
Adaptor & external adaptor
Connect the 2 wires on the ATAcable->FCC board. To connect
the FCC cable, first unlock the FCC-connector, insert FCC cable and close FCC-connector.
Remove the white leaf and paste the the ATAcable->FCC board
in your xbox at this location (put FCC cable on top of the video output):
Remove the white leaf and paste the the FCC->LTP board on
the back of your xbox case just above the video output. Unlock the FCC connector
, insert FCC cable and close FCC connector.
Connect the ATA-like wire on your modchip:
| | |
06/ locate the LPC points on your Xbox
| |
07/ Learn "d0" position For the next steps it will
be very usefull to learn the exact position of "d0" by heart. Learn the position
of "d0" compared to points nearby. You should be able to position "d0" on your
xbox motherboard without watching these diagrams anymore.
"D0" is indicated with the 4 arrows.
IF
YOUR LPC POINTS ON YOUR XBOX DO NOT HAVE SOLDER YOU SHOULD FILL THE HOLES WITH
SOLDER THIS HELPS THE POGO PINS MAKE SOLID CONTACT WITH SOMETHING INSTEAD OF SITTING
IN A HOLE, NOT MAKING GOOD CONNECTION.
|
| 08/ Scrape the motherboard surface (optional) First
of all : DO THIS AT OWN RISK! Best is it use a "Fibre Glass
Pen" and very softly go over "d0" (just "d0" and not all the traces and points
nearby) to make sure the pin gets a good contact. You can also go over the
LPC points and the pogopins themself. You can also do this with a blade , but
that's even more dangerous ... one bad move can kill your xbox.
| |
09/ Install the PogoPins There are 2 methods
to align the pogopins , personally I think the first is alot easier & faster.
You can ofcourse also combine both methods. METHOD1 Remove the screw near the LPC points. Put
the put the star shaped spacer (included with PogoPin addon) on the hole. Put
the PogoPin board into position , then put the screw supplied with the PogoPin
addon (NOT the original screw). Tighten the screw very slightly so the screw stays
into the hole , but so you can still move around the PogoPin board. Find "d0"
back on your xbox motherboard , and put the "d0" pogopin exactly on the "d0" point.
Thanks to the design of the PogoPin addon you can see "d0" and the points nearby
under the board. If the "d0" pogopin is on the right position , the LPC pogopins
will most likely also be on the right position. Push on the pogopinboard so it
doesn't move while you are tightening the screw. Do NOT overtighten ... when you
feel the screw "stops" don't go further! To
see "d0" under the PogoPin board , just use a good light or maginify glasses. I
even managed to take pictures of it (no zoom ... else it would be blurry) , so
don't tell you can't see it.
"d0" pogopin placed exactly on top of "d0" point. In the background
you can see that LPC pogopins are also correctly alligned.

Here and example of a BAD aligned "d0"
METHOD2 This method is similar to the Matrix/Xodus
modchip installation (xodus
guide) , with the 3 small holes in the pogopin board and the 3 reference points
on the xbox motherboard you should be able to align the pogopins. The 3 reference points
Align modchip so you can see the 3 points indicated on the picture
above through the 3 holes in the PogoPinboard.

For :: X-ecuter 2.1 Lite, 2.2 Lite, 2.1 Pro and 2.2
Pro/ Connect the external switch module. Note:: All pictures to install the external switch module are
from a X2.1/2.2 Lite install, but it's exactly the same for the X2.1/2.2 Pro. First unplug the connector of the ON/OFF panel.
Then you will have to remove the front panel. With a screwdriver
you can unlock one of the 2 side. 'Push the "outside part" to outside and the
"inside part" to inside'. (see arrows on picture)
Lift up the middle lid and you should be able to fully remove
the xbox front panel.
Plug the connector of the connection-wire into the external
switch module. Also put the modchip-status switch to "enable". The position
of the two other switches doesn't really matter at this moment.
Put the other side of the connection-wire in this hole. From
outside to inside.
You should have something like this now ... The external
switch module must be with led/switches at the bottomside.
Make sure the yellow wire is through to hole before reclosing
the front panel.
Remove the white plastic from the external switch module and
stick it under the xbox front panel. Make sure the wire isn't too long at the
outside of the xbox and that it won't get nuked when you close back the xbox front
panel.
To close the xbox front panel just push the front panel back
into the tabs on the each sides.
Connect the other side of the connection-wire with the modchip. As
example on this picture for a wire-install.

For :: X-ecuter 2.0 Lite, 2.1 Lite, 2.2Lite and 2.0
Pro/ Fast "d0" test . Do NOT put the modchip onto the headerpin yet. (the small wire
adaptor should be connected to the X2L/P thought). If you have an X-ecuter2.0
Pro put switch4 to "ON" (enable modchip). If you have an X-ecuter2.1/2.2 Lite
put your switch to modchip "enabled". Connect IDE (motherboard , dvd , HD)
, power (xbox , dvd , HD) and video-output without completely reassembling your
xbox. If you wonder how that's done , this picture should explain.
Power on the xbox ... if your "d0" is correctly alligned your
xbox should reboot 2x then FRAG* (Flash Red And Green). Yes! you read well ...
your xbox shouldn't boot! Because "d0" is correctly alligned it will try to boot
from the LPC , but because the modchip isn't connected yet to the headerpin booting
will fail. If the xbox boots normally it means "d0" isn't correctly alligned! Go
watch under the Pogopinboard and try to realign. You can very softly move the
pogobinboard even when it's screwed ... but do it VERY softly , slowly , gently
... 'cause you risk to scratch your board if you fuck up. If you aren't sure ,
unscrew a bit before moving the board and trying to realign. If your "d0" is
correctly aligned it's almost sure your LPC points will be too. If you encounter
problems with your LPC points later , just try to press softly on top of pogopins
above the LPC points. *= for X-ecuter2 Pro users it's also possible that your xbox
doesn't FRAG 'cause you didn't connect the FCC ribon cable correctly (blue side
on top) or didn't put swich4 to "ON".
| 12/ Connect the modchip on the headerpin. May
sound easy , but make sure the pogopinboard doesn't move while you connect it
with the X2L/P modchip.

For :: X-ecuter 2.0 Lite/ Flash the modchip. The
first X2.0 Lite modchips were pre-flashed with an X2 bios , so those don't need
flashing. If you have a new X2.0 Lite with the xbox-linux cromwell bios , you
will have to flash it with ozxflash. Instructions how to flash your X2P with ozxflash (soon - you
can read this
tutorial by tester123 in meantime) Or you can flash them with the X-ecuter2.x Lite Programmer
(sold separately): instructions coming soon.
For :: X-ecuter 2.1 Lite/ Flash the modchip. The
X2.1 is preflashed with the xbox-linux cromwell bios , you will have to flash
it with ozxflash. Instructions how to flash your X2P with ozxflash (soon - you
can read this
tutorial by tester123 in meantime) Or you can flash them with the X-ecuter2.x Lite Programmer
(sold separately): instructions coming soon.
For :: X-ecuter 2.2 Lite/ Flash the modchip. The
X-ecuter2.2 Lite is preflashed with the "Xecuter FlashBIOS (Cromwell)". Instructions from Team Xecuter readme file: Step 1 - Creating the Bios CD - Ensure that the bios file
you wish to use of an appropriate size for your modchip. (1MB for the X-ecuter2) -
Make a copy of the bios file you wish to use and rename this copy to BIOS.BIN (You
can also use BIOSUPD1.BIN, CROMWELL.BIN, XECUTER.BIN & LINUXBIO.BIN) -
Select a CD or DVD media compatible with your XBox's DVD-Rom. (Most CDRW will
work and most DVD-R will work. If you have a Samsung Drive then some CD-R will
work) - Burn the BIOS.BIN file onto a CD. (For Nero select the following
settings, No Multisession, ISO Level 1, Format Mode 1, ISO 9660, Deselect Joliet,
Finalize CD, Disc-At-Once) - You should add a dummy file to the CD to ensure
it is read properly by the XBOX. We have enclosed a dummy file creator with this
release. We recommend 100MB. Step
2 - Flashing with FlashBIOS (Cromwell) - Turn your XBox console ON, when the
DVD-Rom tray ejects please insert your BIOS.BIN CD and close the tray. - When
the flashing procedure is complete the XBox will shut down. - If your modchip
is writeprotected or the programming fails you will be informed by error messages
on screen (It will say Unknown Flash! Halting) Or you can flash them with the X-ecuter2.x Lite Programmer
(sold separately): instructions coming soon.
For :: X-ecuter 2.0 Pro/ Flash the modchip. The
first batches of X-ecuter2.0 Pro aren't pre-flashed with a bios (so your only
option is to flash it with a PC). instructions how to flash your X2P

X-ecuter 2.0 Lite, 2.1 Lite and 2.2 Lite/ Reassemble xbox and boot ... If
xbox doesn't boot : - make sure ALL wires are correctly inserted (video-output
, ide-cable , power-cable , ...) - If you flashed your X2P with a X-ecuter2
4973 (or later) you should see "XECUTER2" instead of "Microsoft" under the black
XBOX logo or with Evox Bios 2.6/3.6/D.6 you should see "Matrix Inside". - if
xbox boots with the onboard bios ... it means your "d0" links has a problem or
modchip is disabled. (en/disable jumper should be on the modchip to enable it). -
if xbox boots x3 then red&green flashing something must be wrong with one
