Warning
It is assumed that you are competent with handling electronics
(Modchips, Xbox hardware, etc)
I and XBOX-MODCHIPS.COM cannot be held responsible for poor
judgment, or damage caused by the install of the solderless
adapter.
When installing via the solderless solution, then make sure
to never drag the solderless adapter across the xbox motherboard
as the pogo pins (on the bottom of the adapter) can scratch
and damage wire traces.
There is always a chance that you could damage your xbox (scratched
wire traces, chip on backwards, short something out etc)..
so if you do not feel comfortable performing or
following this document, then I highly recommend that you
look for assistance from someone who does feel comfortable
or look to have the modchip professionally installed.
If your interested in a professional install, then check
out http://www.xbox-modchips.com/.
Note: you wouldn't want the spice chip though as XBMC would
install pin header for you and then u need to puchase the
the Xenium Ice (Same modchip; but cheaper)
NOTES
Please review theses before proceeding:
- Always make sure to account for static by touching the
xbox metal case. before touching the inner workings of the
xbox
- Before working on the xbox, perform the following: Power
off xbox, touch case frame, unplug AC power, tap power button
(to drain power supply) and then touch case frame once more
- Try not to touch any of the chips on the motherboard or
on the modchip as there is talk that the oils from your
fingers can cause hot spots on the chips and lessen the
life of the xbox and modchip..
- The 1.5 xbox may not be totally solderless (unconfirmed
though) 3v3 may need to be wired, and the blue/black
wire loom (the black ground part) many need to be grounded
to the screw hole above the LPC, along with the blue wire
being taped up as to not short anything out.. Check out

General
This document generally shows (via pictures) how to
install a SP Ice solderless adapter on a 1.0 to 1.5 xbox..
Its recommend that you review the following links before proceeding
with guide
http://www.xbox-modchips.com/xenium/iceguide.pdf
(A very good Xenium Ice Guide)
http://www.xbox-modchips.com/xenium/iceguide.pdf
(For the older Xenium Solderless adapter but still has some
good info)

Keep the stuff on the left out as this will be used to install
the solderless adaper; but put the stuff on the right back
in the Xenium Ice box (if you ever move to a 1.6 xbox, then
this extra parts will be required)

Use a pair of pliers and hold the base of the Golden D0 wire

Then use your finger to bend the wire a little more down..
This will help to hold the Golden D0 wire in place.
Be careful not to bend too much or you will break the Golden
D0 wire off!
Put the parts together as shown below

Review above picture to identify which D0 point you'll need
to use (based on xbox version). Make sure to use the
correct D0 point for your version of xbox. Note:
that the samples provided use a 1.0 xbox, and that you will
have to account for this with all samples pictures provided

Place the solderss adapter on the xbox motherboard, and tighten
the screw 1 turn..

Then lift up the solderless adapter and by looking from the
right side, carefully lower the modchip onto the LPC so that
the pogo pins are making contact with the LPC and are aligned
correctly.

Apply gentle downward pressure on the solderless adapter
(make sure not to let the adapter move left or right) while
tightening the screw until the adapter is snugly on the motherboard
NOTE: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.. Tighten just enough so that the
adapter is sitting snug without stripping the screw hole..
its a fine line between tight and stripped

Then put the D0 wire in the correct D0 hole (depending on
what version of xbox you have)

If your having issues with the getting the D0 wire into the
hole, then u can use a pin and gently push, and rotate it
into the D0 hole to open up the hole a little more to help
get the D0 wire in.. Just be very careful when doing this.

Once the adapter is installed, it should look like this picture
and the ones below

As you can see from the above picture, the adapter is sitting
flush with the xbox motherboard

Next plug the Xeium Ice modchip into the solderless adapter..
Note that the modchip is installed on the modchip where as
it stting on the front part of the LPC Pin header.. Check
the pictures below to make sure that you install the modchip
in the exactly the same way.

Note Position of modchip on pin header over the next couple
of pictures (The modchip should be pressed all the way down
onto the solderless pin header; but I've left it up so that
position of the modchip on the adapter pin header can be scene)

When done, the modchip install should look like the above
picture. Make sure that its fully down on the solderless
adapter (the previous pictures were shown with the modchip
not fully sitting on the adapter as to show pin position)
You can now boot the xbox without HD and DVD ROM connected
to the xbox; but it is recommended that you put the HD back
in to cover the power supply. You'll need to connect the AV
cable and power cable

When the xbox is powered on, you should see the Xenium Ice
OS Menu. The modchip onboard LED should go from Red
to yellow, to green and then may power off depending on what
Xenium OS version
If the xbox doesn't boot the Xenium OS screen, then check
to make sure that there is a red Led on the Modchip
(no red led, most likely connectivity or alignment and its
effecting ground (pin #2) or 3v3 (Pin #9))
If the xbox boots to the retail dash, then check your D0
point.
If the xbox turns on and off 3 times and then flashes red/green,
then your D0 point is most likely ok, but you have a connectivity
or alignment issue with the adapter At this point its
recommended that you install the rivets in the LPC holes (if
they're not filled in with solder) and then revisit the adapter
install
NOTE: There is a switch on the modchip that allows
you to force the booting of the Xenium Ice OS recovery feature.
If you accidentally set the switch, then you may see the recovery
screen.. Just power off the xbox, and flip the switch back.
Be careful as this switch is fragile.
Final Notes:
Make sure to perform Xenium OS EEPROM backup
(off the eeprom main menu item) backup and backup C and E
drive from the xbox to a backup directory on your PC before
doing anything else. Performing these backups may save
you a lot of pain and suffering later on.
